British Curriculum
The British curriculum sets out Early Learning Goals for the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) within seven areas of learning. We utilize a variety of fun and engaging methods to teach our students these areas of development, including interactive activities and songs. The areas of learning and development are broken down into three prime areas:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
The prime areas are further strengthened and applied by the following areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Communication and Language
Children enjoy a variety of speaking and listening activities to enhance their language development. Active listening is practiced daily during story time, where children are encouraged to discuss the story and relate it to their own experiences. Children also learn new vocabulary from the academic themes they absorb throughout the day. Additionally, circle time helps to develop the child’s confidence and social development. Role play is another activity that teaches children how to express themselves and communicate effectively in different situations.
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Pre-School is a place where children learn to socialize by making friends with their peers and develop positive relationships with both children and adults. Developing social skills is one of the most important aspects of our curriculum and children are encouraged to be independent, to manage their feelings, and to understand and engage in appropriate behavior when playing or working with others. Positive reinforcement is key in developing personal, social and emotional development; every child is made to feel special and encouraged to have self-confidence. Our school rules are posted in each classroom and it’s there to teach our children to be polite to others and behave in a positive manner.

Parent & Teacher Relationship
It is extremely important to foster a positive parent – teacher relationship in order for your child to develop in the most appropriate manner. Therefore, it is vital to have regular contact with parents to ensure effective communication. Our staff understand that most parents have children attending school for the fist time, therefore the staff want to be able to develop a healthy working relationship to ensure that the parent and child are content.
Parents are more than welcome to call or come to the school to ask about their child. Our teachers are available every day at the end of the day to give feedback to parents and are available for a more in-depth discussion by appointment. Additionally, towards the beginning of the year, there will be an open house at school where parents are invited to tour the school, view their child’s work, and have an informal meeting with the teachers to discuss their child’s progress.
